ANGELA'S STORY
"On October 6th, I will be running my 4th Maine Half Marathon in Portland to raise funds for a charity near and dear to me - the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Most of you know that I lost my soulmate Angela Gagnon on March 14, 2017 to stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The biggest challenge with this horrible disease is that it rarely gets diagnosed far enough in advance for successful treatment, as was the case for Angela.
Research dollars are working very hard to understand the biology of this disease, which is the key to early detection tools and better treatment options.
My promise to Angela was to never give up on helping others on this very challenging journey.
My goal this year is $7,000 raised for PANCAN. If you can consider any financial help to get us to our goal, I and my family thank you. If you would like to donate to the cause in memory of Angela, donate below.
ABOUT: PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK
Founded in 1999, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) is dedicated to fighting the world’s toughest cancer. In our urgent mission to save lives, we attack pancreatic cancer on all fronts: research, clinical initiatives, patient services and advocacy.
With support from PanCAN advocates, our grantees can investigate new drugs designed to change the environment of pancreatic cancer, making it more vulnerable to immunotherapy, which has proven to be effective for other types of cancers. They can also research ways to prevent the survival of metastatic cells, which lead to the recurrence of disease after surgery.
Pancreatic cancer patients urgently need and deserve better treatments and outcomes. With your generosity, we can fund even more research projects in the future – our grantees typically secure more than $11 for each dollar in additional funding from PanCAN.
